A man who jumped from a first floor window of his cannabis factory in an attempt to evade police has been jailed.

Andi Aliaj, 24, leapt from the property in North Lodge Park in Milton, near Cambridge, on 27 February, but was arrested.

Police found 208 cannabis plants with a street value of up to £85,000 and cannabis growing equipment.

Aliaj, of no fixed address, admitted cultivating the drug and was sentenced to a year in prison at Peterborough Crown Court.

PC Edward Hyde, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: "Thanks to information received from members of the public, this cannabis factory has been shut down and a significant amount of cannabis prevented from making it to the streets.

"We encourage members of the public to continue reporting their suspicions to us."

The force said suspicions should be raised by frequent visitors to a property at unsocial hours throughout the day and night, blacked-out windows or condensation, bright lights in rooms throughout the night, a powerful and sweet aroma, noise from fans, and an excessive amount of plant pots, chemicals, fertilisers and compost.
