A care home manager who forged qualification certificates has lost her job and been struck off by the sector's watchdog body.

Alison Grant most recently managed homes for the elderly in Galashiels and Melrose.

Last year it was discovered that many of the management level qualification certificates she held for her position were doctored.

A further investigation by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) found other submitted certificates from 2020 and 2017 had also been altered.

As well as changing names on SVQ management certificates, dates and levels of qualifications were also altered.

Changes had also been made to earlier leadership awards - and SVQs in health and social care.

Grant denied the 11 different allegations made against her involving fraudulent qualification certificates - claiming she had submitted the wrong paperwork.

The SSSC panel found her fitness to practise had been impaired and described her dishonesty at the "most serious end of the scale" before removing her from the sector's register.
