Cable fault causes power cut at shopping centre
- Published
More than 2,000 properties, including a city’s shopping centre, have been hit by a power failure.
UK Power Networks (UPN) confirmed properties in the PE1 postcode in the centre of Peterborough were affected by the outage at 10:40 BST on Thursday.
Queensgate Shopping Centre said the mall including its car parks were left without power for "a few minutes".
On its website, UPN, external said the problem was due to a fault on underground cables and specialist engineers were on site to fix the issue.
“Engineers are carrying out investigations into the fault. Once they have completed their assessment, they will carry out repairs," said a spokesperson.
UPN estimated around 90 properties were still impacted and it hoped to restore power to all by 14:00 BST.
