Driver dies after crash at motorway junction

A driver has died after a two-vehicle crash at a motorway junction, police have said.

The incident happened on the northbound M11 near Harlow at about 12:55 BST on Friday.

The junction 7a slip roads were closed and Essex Police said emergency services were at the scene for "a number of hours".

It added an investigation was under way and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A statement from the force said: "The collision involved two vehicles and officers worked alongside ambulance and fire service colleagues for a number of hours.

"Sadly, we are now in a position to confirm the driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.

"Her family have been informed and are being supported.

"Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible."
