A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with four counts of rape and other sex offences.

PC Dion Arnold was arrested by Surrey Police and charged with rape, two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault.

He appeared at Guildford Magistrates' Court on 31 March and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 1 May.

"The charges relate to a report made earlier this year, and conduct while PC Dion Arnold was off duty," the Met Police said.

"The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed. PC Dion Arnold is currently suspended from duty."
