Police searching for a teenager who went missing on the Isle of Wight have found a body.

Chris Koppany, 18, was last seen at a beach near Binstead at about 19:00 BST on Thursday.

HM Coastguard said it was alerted to a man who was reported overdue from a swim near Ryde in the early hours of Friday.

A search and rescue helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent and four Coastguard Rescue teams had been among those searching the area.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said officers discovered the body of a man on Saturday morning.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but Mr Koppany's family has been informed.

A file will be prepared for the coroner, police said.
