New places and trails have been added to a free tourism app created by a county council.

Explore Wiltshire features heritage, walking routes, events and information on places and has now added audio, pictures and video from Melksham, Tisbury and Wilton.

The app was first launched in 2023 covering several Wiltshire towns, with audio voiced by archaeologist Phil Harding, known for his stint on Channel 4's Time Team.

Wiltshire Council said it is a good way to get people to explore the county and support the local economy.

Bradford on Avon, Chippenham, Cricklade, Devizes, Marlborough, Malmesbury, Pewsey, Salisbury, Trowbridge and Warminster already featured on Explore Wiltshire.

As part of the update, a treasure hunt based on Warminster’s Longleat Safari Park has been added too.

Councillor Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council and Cabinet Member for Heritage, Arts and Tourism, said: “Vibrant, well-connected communities are a key priority for us and the app is a great way for people to support the local economy as they visit local amenities found along the trail.”
