Safari park welcomes the birth of two lion cubs

The cubs are being monitored after venturing into their enclosure for the first time

A Kent safari park has announced the birth of two lion cubs.

Port Lympne, in Hythe, said the new arrivals are "doing well and looking strong".

Visitors can see the cubs, born to mum Oudrika and dad Hunter, in the largest lion enclosure in Europe.

The park's Animal Director Simon Jeffery said staff are "thrilled with the new arrivals".

Other arrivals to have made an appearance just in time for the school half-term break, include a new giraffe, named Karamojo, and a new fossa - the largest mammalian carnivore found natively on Madagascar - called Makira.
