Police are investigating after a Pride flag was "dumped in a bin" at the same time as another flag was stolen in a Devon town.
Dart Harbour & Navigation Authority said its Red Ensign was stolen while the rainbow Progress Pride flag, flown to mark Pride month, was thrown away.
Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed it received a report of theft from Oxford Street, Dartmouth and said it was believed to have taken place between 23:20 BST on 9 June and 10:40 BST on 10 June.
Posting on social media on Monday, the harbour authority said the incident showed "how important" Pride month was, adding: "Please join Dartmouth Pride in celebrating that all are equal. #lovewins."
It added: "If you are wondering why we are only flying the Pride flag outside the harbour office today ...
"Our Red Ensign was stolen last night, and our Pride flag dumped in a bin.
"The culprit visited our office today to express his opinion of the Pride movement, we have reported this to the Dartmouth Police who are investigating."
