A man has been rescued by firefighters from a burning building in Sheffield.
Fire crews were called at 09:09 BST to reports of a blaze in a first floor flat on City Road.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said people were in the property, which is above the Toppolis Pizza Grill House, when the fire broke out.
Station manager Matt Craig said two people had been taken to hospital including the man who was rescued,
He said the call to the service had suggested people were still in the flat and specialist turntable ladders had been sent to the scene.
However, most people had left the property before they arrived, Mr Craig said.
Following a report someone was still inside the burning flat, firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter the building.
"They were able to get the last person out of the property fairly quickly," Mr Craig said.
Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire," Mr Craig said.
"It was a serious fire where one person has been taken to hospital with injuries to their feet from broken glass and slight smoke inhalation."
A second person was also taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation, the fire service added.
The junction of City Road and Ridgeway Road was closed for a short time while crews put the fire out.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing, the fire service added.
