A huge pile of rubbish has been found dumped on a village road.

The waste, which is believed to have been fly-tipped on Wednesday, is blocking Ledbury Road (off the A438) in Forthampton, Gloucestershire.

The road is currently closed so the rubbish can be removed. It is expected to reopen on Tuesday.

Peter Tongue, director for communities at Tewkesbury Borough Council, urged anyone with information about who dumped the waste, as well as anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area, to get in touch.

"This is a serious and illegal incident of dumping waste, and unfortunately, we currently have no evidence of who is responsible," he added.

Mr Tongue said the council was working with a contractor to get the waste removed "as quickly as possible".
