A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Police said it happened in Melbourne Road, Isley Walton, just before 06:10 GMT on Friday and involved a green Volkswagen Golf and white Hyundai.

Both East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, where a man in his late teens - the Hyundai driver - was taken to hospital. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

The force added the road was closed for a number of hours to allow an investigation to be carried out, and for the vehicles to be recovered.

Officers have now issued an appeal for potential witnesses, and for any dashcam footage from drivers who may have been in the area at the time.
