A bridge has been closed to pedestrians and vehicles due to structural damage.

Westmorland and Furness Council said it issued an emergency closure for Holme Farm Bridge, Appleby, on Wednesday morning.

The council said it was in talks with the bridge owner after "underwater investigations discovered one of the abutments has been undermined".

It follows an order earlier in the year after vehicles were banned from using the structure.
