Man seriously injured after being hit by car

The man was taken to hospital after being struck by a car in Arundel Avenue, police said

A man suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car in Castle Donington on Sunday night.

Leicestershire Police said the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was struck by a black VW Golf in Arundel Avenue shortly before 21:30 BST.

The force said the man was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be life-changing.

The driver of the Golf, a 24-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Officers closed the road as officers launched an investigation and it has since been reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the pedestrian being struck, or who has relevant information, has been urged to contact police.
