Armed police called to 'dispatch' injured deer

Armed police were called to the scene of an accident to shoot an injured deer that was in the road.

Dorset Police were called to reports of the animal on the A352 Sherborne Hill, close to the junction of the A3030, shortly after 10:15 BST.

The force said, to "safely deal with the situation and to prevent any further unnecessary suffering, the deer was dispatched".

The road was closed throughout the incident but has since reopened.
