A new £4m lighting system has been installed on the runway at Inverness Airport.

Highlands and Airports Limited (Hial) said the set up was energy efficient and would provide crucial visual guidance to pilots during low visibility and darkness.

The upgrade ensures the airport remains compliant with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements.

Inverness Airport general manager, Graeme Bell, said the system would help keep the airport safe and sustainable for years.
