Murder suspect detained under Mental Health Act

A murder suspect who was arrested following a man's death has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

A 38-year-old man was found seriously injured when police were called to a disturbance at a house on Lymebrook Place in Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 16:00 GMT on Monday.

He died from his injuries a short time later and a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Following an assessment by medical professionals, Staffordshire Police said the suspect has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The force added that officers would remain in the area to reassure the community.
