Ikea will open a temporary pop-up shop in Brighton on Friday before launching its permanent store in the city later this year.

The temporary shop will be in the West Mall at Churchill Square shopping until the end of July.

There will be 150 home furnishing items in stock at the temporary shop, which IKEA UK area manager Jacob Bertilsson says will give customers a taste of things to come.

Next week, IKEA will officially start advertising for staff at its permanent store, also in Churchill Square, but advertisements have already begun to appear online.

Mr Bertilsson said: "Our pop-up shop is the perfect spot for customers looking to craft their dream kitchen or storage needs and is an opportunity for us to engage with the local community and showcase our range of affordable home furnishing products.

"We look forward to welcoming visitors and becoming part of Brighton's vibrant retail scene."

The pop-up will also offer a collection service for customers to pick up their parcels, the company said.

The permanent store will open in the summer, but an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
