Driver dies after single vehicle crash on A19

The 81-year-old man died shortly after arriving at hospital via ambulance

An 81-year-old man has died after his car was involved in a crash on the A19 near Selby, North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police said the man was driving a silver Jaguar when the incident happened at 15:30 BST on Tuesday at Chapel Haddlesey.
The driver was taken to hospital via ambulance where he died a short time later.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the crash and added that the man's family were being supported by officers.
"Thank you to the public who stopped to try and help the driver, and for all who came forward as witnesses," a force spokesperson added.
