Decorations which were part of floats for the island's Battle of Flower events are being recycled - by being placed in shopfronts.

In the run-up to the event, which took place on 8 and 9 August, 16 businesses in Jersey put floral displays in their windows.

From Thursday, decorations from the floats will be placed in more shopfronts until 12 September.

Louise Hartley-English, one of the designers of the floats, said creating the decorations had been "an absolute joy".

She added: "I've had a wonderful time because I've been meeting people that I never would normally have had the opportunity to meet and I've been visiting all the different battle workshops, I never would have done that otherwise."
