A man has died after a car crashed into a tree.

Humberside Police said the incident happened at 05:50 GMT and a 44 year old died at the scene.

It is reported that a grey Renault Clio was travelling eastbound on the A1077, Ulceby Road, when it is believed to have hit a tree on Wootton Road.

The force said due to previous police contact, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct but confirmed it was not in relation to a pursuit.

The man's family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information that may help officers is being asked to contact Humberside Police.
