Illegal fireworks worth between £70,000 and £100,000 have been seized by police in West Lothian.

The haul was discovered during a raid on an industrial unit on the Schoolhouse Industrial Estate in Addiewell.

Police Scotland obtained a warrant to search the business premises and found the illegal goods at about 11:30 on Wednesday.

Det Sgt John Irvine said: "It is an offence to buy, possess, or use fireworks without a valid licence."

He added: "Anyone found selling or using fireworks illegally may face fines, seizure of items and potential prosecution.

"The misuse of firearms presents a significant risk to the public, and can result in serious injury, fires and damage to properties."
