Teenager dies and driver arrested after Perthshire crash

A teenager has died and two other people have been seriously injured following a crash in Perthshire.

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta on the B9099 Luncarty to Stanley Road, near the junction leading to Gowrie Farm, at 02:50.

A 19-year-old woman, the front seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, and the rear seat passenger, a 19-year-old woman, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The driver has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

The road was closed for accident investigation work and reopened at about 13:15.

Sgt Steve Livesey said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died and those who have been injured.

“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist is asked to get in touch, external."
