A man died four days after being rescued from a fire, Jersey's Fire and Rescue Service has said.

George Michael Monte De Ramos Castrudes, 37, died on 23 January after he was rescued from a property in Grouville on 19 January.

He was originally from the Philippines and had been working on a farm at the time of the incident.

The coroner's department is currently investigating the case as an unexpected death and the cause of the incident continues to be investigated by the fire service.

His family, who are overseas, and the Philippines Embassy have both been contacted.

The service said preparations were under way to repatriate Mr Castrudes' body to the Philippines.

A spokesperson for Jersey Fire and Rescue said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with his loved ones."
