Witness appeal after boy, six, died in M4 crash

Police said six children remain in hospital with serious injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash on a motorway slip road in which a six-year-old boy died.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said a white Ford Transit minibus overturned on the link road from junction 10 of the M4 to the A329(M) near Reading, Berkshire, at about 14:25 BST on Sunday.

Officers confirmed the boy died at the scene while six other children remain in hospital with serious injuries - one of whom is in a critical condition. Nineteen people were injured in total.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no arrests have been made.

TVP said other occupants of the minibus sustained minor injuries and have been discharged from hospital after receiving medical treatment.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Firstly, I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the child who sadly died in this collision.

"A full investigation has been launched in order to understand what caused the collision.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch."
