Firefighters used aerial appliances and hose reel jets to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

Crews also monitored several gas canisters in the building to prevent further risk.

Geddington Road remains closed, but Ore Lane has been reopened to allow access to other businesses.

A spokesperson from the fire service said National Grid was in attendance to isolate electricity to the site and police officers would be speaking to affected businesses, providing updates and any required assistance.

"We would like to thank nearby residents and businesses for their ongoing understanding and patience while we deal with this incident," the spokesperson added.
