Snare trap probe after badger found dead
- Published
Police are investigating suspected wildlife crimes in the Yorkshire Dales after a badger was found dead with injuries from a snare trap.
The animal was found on the B6479 heading into Horton in Ribblesdale from the Studfold direction, North Yorkshire Police said.
A vet confirmed the injuries were caused by a snare trap rather than a road collision.
Officers issued a warning that it was illegal to intentionally snare badgers under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992.
Anyone with information is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police's Rural Task Force.
