Police are investigating after a 46-year-old man was shot in the head while sitting in his car.

The victim drove himself to hospital after the incident in Bradford on Monday night, with staff contacting officers at about 23:50 BST, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force said his injuries were not life-threatening and a scene was in place on Daisy Street while forensic examinations took place.

Temp Det Insp Courtenay Goldsborough said he had been "extremely lucky" not to have been more severely injured.

"We take all firearms incidents extremely seriously and we have extensive inquiries under way to identify those responsible," she added.

She asked anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between 23:00 and 00:00 to contact police.
