A prisoner has been charged with the murder of a fellow inmate at a high-security prison.

Nathaniel Reece, who is accused of killing John Mansfield, 63, at HMP Whitemoor near March, Cambridgeshire, did not attend Thursday's hearing at Cambridge Magistrates' Court.

Reece, 44, formerly from Islington, north London, was remanded to appear before Cambridge Crown Court on 24 November.

Mansfield, formerly from Manchester, was found dead on 13 April. A post-mortem examination found he died from a head injury.

Mansfield had been jailed for life with a minimum term of 30 years in 2007 for the murder of his neighbour, 63-year-old Ann Alfanso.
