A horse on the loose shut a motorway for about an hour.
National Highways said the animal caused a "significant safety risk" on the M4 between junctions 12 at Theale and 13 at Chieveley Interchange in Berkshire from about 10:00 GMT.
It fully reopened the motorway at about 11:00 after the horse was safely moved away.
A picture from the scene showed the horse behind a crash barrier as a worker stood on the other side of it.
