Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with violent disorder after an armed group reportedly chased a man into a Birmingham shop.

An 18-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were detained after the incident on High Street in Castle Vale on Friday evening.

Gunshots were also reported to West Midlands Police, but no evidence of any weapons being discharged has been discovered, the force said. However, two cartridges were found nearby on Saturday.

No-one was injured in the disorder on Friday and police said there was currently no confirmed link between the cartridges being found and the disorder.

The cartridges were discovered following fresh information from the public, the force added.

The teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder with the 18-year-old also being arrested on suspicion of an unrelated affray.

Both remain in custody for questioning.
