A road will be closed for five months to allow bridge replacement works to take place.

The A1088 at Bridge Farm Bridge at Stowlangtoft, near Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk is being upgraded.

It is expected to be closed until 20 December, said Suffolk Highways.

A diversion route, external via the A1088, A14 and A143 is in place taking traffic through Bury St Edmunds and Great Barton.

Suffolk Highways said it had carried out planning to try to reduce the impact on surrounding villages.

It included preparing other local roads which some drivers may use instead of the official diversion route.

Temporary speed limits are also in place on several roads as a traffic calming measure.
