Firefighters have been tackling a large barn fire in Suffolk.

Crews were called at about 08:15 GMT to a "well developed" fire in Gisleham near Lowestoft, according to Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.

Station manager Matt Webster, who is leading the operation, said the cause of the fire was currently unknown.

Nearby residents and businesses have been urged to keep windows and doors closed while crews tackle the blaze.

Five crews including from Leiston, Beccles and Wrentham were in attendance at the scene with about 30 to 35 firefighters there.

Mr Webster said: "We will be here for probably the next few hours, just making sure that the fire is extinguished and a full investigation will be undertaken post-fire."

There had been no explosions other than small "pops" from the blaze, Mr Webster said.
