A cyclist was critically injured after he was involved in a crash with a car, police said.

The 33-year-old man was cycling southbound on the A1301 near Sawston when a Citroen, being driven in the opposite direction, collided with him.

The crash happened just after 19:00 BST on Sunday, Cambridgeshire Police said.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with life-threatening injuries and remained in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was uninjured and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, has been asked to contact police.
