A milestone birthday has been celebrated by members of a friendship club and police in Peterborough.

Margaret Woodhead has been in the Netherton Friendship Club, based at St Andrew's United Reformed Church in Peterborough, since its early years.

The club was originally set up with the help of Age Concern in 2002 for residents over 60.

Ms Woodhead was the first of its members to turn 100 and showed off the telegram that she received from the King.

The local constabulary celebrated the occasion with Margaret

"It was a great celebration full of food, cakes, and lots of fun and laughter as we enjoyed listening to someone sing all the hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s," a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said.

"We also all got to see the telegram that Margaret received from the King which is such a special keepsake to remember the day by.

"We really love spending time with this group, getting to know people and providing advice."
