The behind-the-scenes documentary would chronicle the club's turbulent season, the chairman said

A documentary will chart the "highs and lows" of a football club which had been "on the brink of folding", its chairman says.

West Allotment Celtic FC, which plays in Forest Hall, North Tyneside, was struggling with poor attendances and the loss of its main sponsor.

In November, the Northern League gave it a two-week suspension of fixtures to try and come up with a rescue plan.

Chairman David Dodds said the club had since since resumed matches after local business people injected the club with funds.

He said news about the club's financial trouble had led to several people joining its board, including many young people.

"They're doing a behind-the-scenes documentary on this season which will document…the highs and lows," he said.

"It will show people what really running a non-league club involves and how much work goes into it from volunteers."

He said the club had enough money for the current season but, going forward, it would need to look at new models.

He said a lot of non-league clubs had traditionally relied on gate money and "one or two sponsors".

"You need to look at more revenue streams," he said.

He said the club would announce more plans on this topic "in the coming weeks".
