A road that has been shut for more than two months because of a landslip is due to re-open on Friday.

Engineering work to shore up the A488 in Hope Valley began on 30 June, with the operation also including improvements to kerbs and drainage, Shropshire Council said.

Contractors Keir repaired the areas around four landslips and people living nearby were invited to inspect the work on Sunday.

The A488 has been completely closed during the repairs, because of the size of the machinery needed and the width of the road, the council said.

However, contractors have made sure residents could access their homes and, on occasion, farmers were able to pass through with loads of hay bales, the authority added.
