Four arrests have been made after a pursuit ended with several police cars damaged.

North Yorkshire Police first attempted to pull over a vehicle after it was linked to suspicious activity in Scarborough on 6 October.

Seen on Stepney Hill at 21:36 BST, the car fled the scene before reverse ramming a patrol car on Gladstone Street, police said.

Driving towards the A165 in the direction of Filey, the driver reversed into several more police vehicles, causing minor damage. The vehicle was eventually stopped when it came to a halt in a field near Osgodby at 21.40 BST.

A 31-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, driving without insurance and having two rear defective tyres with the cord exposed.

He has been bailed to appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court in November.

Three others, including a 46-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman have all been released on conditional bail in connection with the investigation.
