Cyclist seriously injured in crash with van

A cyclist has suffered “serious” injuries in a crash with a van in a Derbyshire village.

Emergency services were called to Sandiacre at 08:50 GMT on Friday after a push bike and a van collided at the junction of Station Road and Osmaston Street.

Derbyshire Police said the cyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital.

The force described his injuries as “serious, but not believed to be life-threatening”.

It added: “His family are aware."

The roads were closed while emergency services worked at the scene, with buses diverted.

The junction was cleared by about 09:40.
