A main road has been closed and people are being advised to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows closed because of a fire near a recycling centre.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, which was called just after 11:00 GMT to the blaze in Caister-on-Sea, said the fire was at a waste transfer station.
The A149 Caister Bypass is shut because of smoke.
Fire engines from Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Hethersett and Stalham are at the scene.
