Investigators will start their work on Tuesday into the cause of an explosion that wrecked a house in Jersey.

Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) said it was now safe to enter the site at Mont Pinel after stabilisation and weather-proofing work over the weekend.

Two adults who were injured in the explosion on 26 June are due to discharged from hospital later, officials said.

An expert from the UK will help States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service with the investigation.

A statement from JHA said: "Until they have begun their initial assessments, it is difficult to say how long the process will take, but it is likely to take some time to fully conclude the investigation."

Two children were also initially taken to hospital, but discharged the following day.

The family is being provided with accommodation while investigations continue, and is being supported by their own family members and the government, the statement said.

Other families affected are being supported by the government and their insurers, while investigators work to determine the cause.
