Work to revamp a key commuter route in Derby city centre has been completed.

The city council has been upgrading Morledge and Traffic Street since the summer.

Enhanced footpaths and new cycle lanes have been created around the bus station to make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to travel between the city centre and Pride Park.

New street pedestrian crossings and street lighting have also been installed as part of the scheme funded by the Department for Transport.

The council said the junction from the bus station onto Morledge had been upgraded to try to cut congestion and reduce journey times by allowing more buses to exit at once.

Council cabinet member for climate change, transport and sustainability Carmel Swan said: “Schemes like these are key to us delivering an effective sustainable transport network for Derby that is fit for a future that will continue to be dominated by climate change.”
