The "rich diversity" of Manx marine life is set to feature on a new set of stamps.

The new six-stamp collection from the Isle of Man Post Office, which has been illustrated by artist Kimmy McHarrie, offers a glimpse into the world of marine life depicted through mosaic.

The set showcases a selection of fish species native Manx waters, including herring, salmon and mackerel, accompanied by the species name in English and Manx Gaelic.

Ms McHarrie said the Marine Mosaics collection was designed to "celebrate" the wildlife found in the surrounding seas.

The artist, who grew up in Castletown, previously created a large basking shark mosaic at the island's airport.

That piece, which was unveiled in August 2023, was commissioned by Culture Vannin to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Reflecting on the forthcoming stamp collection, Ms McHarrie said: "Each mosaic tells a story of resilience and beauty, highlighting the importance of protecting our oceans for future generations."

One of the stamps in the collection, which features the cod, has been chosen as the Europa stamp for 2024, representing the year’s theme of underwater fauna and flora.

Bearing the official Europa logo, it will join other stamps from postal administrations across Europe which follow the same theme.

The collection is set to be released on 7 March.
