The Royal Navy's flagship HMS Prince of Wales departed on one of its biggest deployments.
The £3bn aircraft carrier set off from Portsmouth to take part in exercises demonstrating the UK's ability to operate fast jets at sea, and carry out large scale military operations on the other side of the world.
Up to 24 of the latest F-35B stealth jets will join the carrier as it leads a multi-national fleet of warships to 40 countries across the Mediterranean, Middle East, south-east Asia, Japan and Australia.

Living with long Covid for four years has been "horrible", a teenager has said.
Molly, who lives in Weymouth, is now 16 and said she rarely goes out. When she does she needs the help of a wheelchair as she gets tired easily.
Without dedicated NHS support in Dorset, she is planning to travel to Liverpool to attend a private clinic.
She said she has "two good days a week, maybe three, and the rest I am shut away".

Warning signs were put up and path closures were in place following a coastal landslip on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight Council said "due to recent ground movement" its Rights of Way team put the closures in place "to ensure public safety while the area is assessed".

A mother's womb containing her unborn baby was lifted from her abdomen during a life-saving operation.
Lucy, 32, a special needs teacher who lives near Sonning Common in Oxfordshire, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 12 weeks pregnant.
At 20 weeks, a team of 15 doctors at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford carried out a five-hour operation to remove the cancerous cells on both ovaries, behind the womb.
Her womb and son were then returned to her body and her baby was born at the end of January, weighing 6lb 5oz (3kg).
Cat cancer warning after pet has ears amputated

Gracie has now been adopted by a couple in Bracknell in Berkshire
Cat owners are being warned to protect their light-furred felines from potentially cancer-causing sun damage.
Gracie, a seven-year-old white cat, had to have her cancerous ear flaps amputated after she was taken in as a stray by a Bracknell charity.
The damage was caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Keeping cats indoors while the sun is at its hottest, sunscreen and providing outdoor shade areas are among the ways suggested to protect vulnerable cats from sunlight.
