Two teenage boys and a man have been arrested after a 14-year-old boy suffered head and leg injuries in an attack.
Gloucestershire Police were called to the incident on Golden Close, Tuffley, in Gloucester, at around 17:45 GMT on Sunday after reports that a group of males, who had been on bikes and scooters and wearing face coverings, had attacked a boy.
The group later fled in the direction of Homeleigh Park, with the victim later taken to hospital by paramedics where he remains.
Two boys, aged 14 and 15, and an 18-year-old man were later arrested on suspicion of affray after armed officers attended addresses across the city.
The 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of the possession of class B drugs and all three remain in custody for questioning.
The force said the arrests came after comprehensive searches took place, including support from the National Air Service.
Police said it is not known if any weapons were used in the incident and it is believed those involved are known to each other.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV or any information that could assist the investigation are urged to contact the force.
Alternatively, those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers.
