Person airlifted to hospital after sea rescue

A person was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after getting into difficulty in the sea off Kent.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene, at the Stone Pier, Margate, shortly before 13:30 BST on Sunday.

An RNLI lifeboat was also launched.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said the person was given emergency treatment before being taken to hospital in London by the air ambulance.
