Arrest after man 'shot in face'

A man has been shot in the face in east Leeds, police have said.

The victim survived the alleged shooting on Mardale Crescent in Seacroft and is believed to have admitted himself to hospital at about 19:20 BST on Monday.

His injuries are not life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police said.

A man has been arrested and remains in custody.

Senior investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Stacey Atkinson, said: "The criminal use of firearms is something we always treat extremely seriously, and we have specialist detectives carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and to identify those responsible.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything at the time or who has any information that could assist the investigation."
