A man has been arrested after a woman was hit with a brick and a stick in Stoke-on-Trent.

The victim had challenged a man, who had been seen jumping on cars following reports of a disturbance on Derby Street, Hanley, at about 13:25 BST on Wednesday.

The woman's injuries were not serious, said Staffordshire Police, which is now appealing for witnesses and footage of the incident.

A 42-year-old man, of no fixed address, is on custody on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm.
