Investigation after woman's body pulled from canal

An woman's body has been pulled from a canal in Brighouse, West Yorkshire Police said.

The woman, in her 70s, was found in the water, near Atlas Mill Road, by a member of the public shortly after 09:00 GMT on Saturday.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the scene and an investigation has been launched into the woman's death, which police said was not thought to be suspicious.

Officers have identified the woman and informed her family.

Det Insp Jenny Haigh of Calderdale CID asked anyone who had seen an older woman fall into the water in the nearby area to come forward.
