The top of a Grade II-listed monument is missing after it allegedly fell into a vehicle that hit the structure.

The monument in Lea Marston, Warwickshire, was struck between 14:00 and 15:00 BST on Wednesday last week.

The crosshead from the monument was then thought to have fallen into the vehicle, at which point the driver reportedly made off with it, police said.

The Warwickshire force stated it was believed the item in question could have since been abandoned at an unknown location.

Police have appealed to anyone who has seen the crosshead, or knows where it is, to get in touch.
